Yes, more so than nylon in fact. Horse bristle is a natural protein fiber, naturally antimicrobial, cleaned and heat-treated during manufacturing. Rinse it and stand it upright to dry, same as any brush.
It is ethically sourced, collected from the mane and tail, which regrow, the same way wool is shorn. No animal is harmed to make these brushes.
No. Dentists have recommended soft bristles for years, because pressure and technique do the cleaning, not stiffness. That goes double for kids, who tend to scrub. If you want a firmer feel, the kids boar bristle version is the one to pick.
Horse is the softest brush we make, the pick for sensitive gums, teeth coming in, or a kid who complains that brushing hurts. Boar is the firmer scrub. Plenty of parents keep one of each and let the kid decide.
A smaller head and a shorter bamboo handle, proportioned for small hands and small mouths. Younger children should brush supervised, exactly as with any toothbrush.
